KBCHS Youth Engagement Officer (YEO)

Our Youth Engagement Officer, Clayre Beckmann, is an integral part of the KBCHS Student Services team. They provide practical, emotional and social support to students and their families, working closely with staff to make sure every young person has the chance to succeed.


How to make an appointment
  • Students: Speak to Student Services, your Year Coordinator, or a Support Officer to request an appointment.

  • Parents/Carers: Contact KBCHS reception and request a call back from the YEO.

  • In times of crisis, students will be seen immediately.


How the YEO can help

The Youth Engagement Officer can:

  • Provide one-on-one mentoring and advocacy for students

  • Support with peer and family issues, grief, loss, or crisis situations

  • Help manage challenges such as bullying, conflict, and social media concerns

  • Assist with staff-student relationships

  • Link families to community and outside support services

  • Offer parenting support, referrals, and practical help when needed

  • Guide students with goal-setting, career considerations, and decision-making

  • Provide crisis support, including suicide intervention, anxiety management, and NSSI (non-suicidal self-injury) support


Training and Experience

Our YEO is trained in:

  • Mandatory Reporting

  • Child Protection and Abuse Prevention

  • Mental Health First Aid & Youth Mental Health First Aid

  • ASIST Suicide Intervention and Gatekeeper Training
