Mathematics

At KBCHS, Mathematics is taught in line with the Australian Curriculum, focusing on developing students’ problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical skills across three key strands: Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability.
Teachers use NAPLAN data, diagnostic assessments, and professional judgement to group students according to learning needs and adjust programs accordingly. In Year 10, there is a strong focus on preparing students for upper school pathways. Students intending to pursue ATAR Specialist Mathematics in Year 11 are offered targeted classes in Term 4 to support their transition.
Each content strand is designed to build mathematical understanding and real-world application:
Number and Algebra – exploring patterns, relationships, functions, and structures
Measurement and Geometry – understanding shapes, space, and measurement concepts
Statistics and Probability – interpreting data, analysing trends, and applying probability concepts
The program equips students with the mathematical literacy needed for success at school and beyond.
