Academic Extension
At Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School, we are committed to extending and enriching the learning of high-performing and high-potential students. Our Academic Extension program challenges students to think critically, solve complex problems, and explore content beyond the standard curriculum.
Students are selected for Academic Extension through a thorough analysis of their primary learning area grades, NAPLAN results, and PAT testing data. Placement is based on academic merit, and students may be moved into or out of extension classes throughout their time at KBCHS to ensure the best fit for their learning needs and progress.
Extension opportunities may include:
Accelerated or enriched classwork in core subjects
Participation in academic competitions and workshops
Project-based learning and inquiry tasks
Access to specialist programs and excursions
Mentoring and support for future pathways
Our aim is to foster a love of learning, build academic confidence, and support students to achieve excellence both at school and beyond.
