Free Bus Travel

All students must tag on when boarding and tag off when disembarking to ensure they receive free bus travel on all Swan Transit services.

Free travel is available only if you have a functional Student SmartRider card.

SmartRider Card Requirements

• Your SmartRider must have at least $5 credit. If the balance is negative, the card will not work — please top up with a minimum of $5 to continue receiving free fares.

• If you lose your SmartRider, replacements can be ordered from the Front Office for $5. If you have not previously received one, your first card is free.

• Funds can be added directly by the bus driver. Please note that online payments may take a few days to process.

  
  

Mandatory Tagging Process

• Tag on at the start of your journey and tag off at the end.

• If you do not tag off, you may be charged a default fare, which will use up the credit on your card.

  
  

For Students Without a SmartRider

• If you do not have a SmartRider, you must pay a fare.

• If you have no SmartRider or money, speak with the driver — they are usually reasonable and will make sure you can get to your destination.

  
  

Cash Fare Option

• For students paying cash, the cost is $1.50 per journey.

  
  

More Information

• Student SmartRider: All students will receive one free SmartRider card. Replacement cards cost $5.00 and can be ordered through the Administration Office.
