Welcome message from the Principal

Welcome to the new Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School Website which will provide both new families and old alike with valuable insights and information about the educational environment that the school offers. The website will be updated regularly to reflect current information and initiatives.

This year we celebrate two significant recognitions about the performance of KBCHS. Last year we received official communication from the Director General that the progress of the school performance review conducted by the Expert Review Group in 2016 is sustainable and has met expectations regarding improvement in relation to all findings outlined in the report.  The Director General said that “Kalgoorlie - Boulder Community High School is to be congratulated for its professional commitment to implementing the Public School Accountability improvement agenda and as such, achieving an important milestone in its quest for sustained improvement.” She went on to say that, “I wish you and your staff continued success in your endeavours to provide high quality education at Kalgoorlie – Boulder Community High School.

Two years of dedication and commitment to the Kalgoorlie Boulder Community High School from a broad cross section of our school has now been recognised with respect to the school’s response to the 2016 Expert Review. Staff are to be congratulated on such a positive outcome.  The recognition is well deserved and augers well for the future of the school. The strength of this school is our staff and not only their dedication, but resilience and perseverance in getting the job done.

The Expert Review Panel found that: “The school has demonstrated significant improvement in its structures and planning.” And that: “There is a clear awareness that there is much ongoing work to focus on, but the strong planning and whole-school processes in place will ensure that the full implementation and embedding of this very positive work should result in improved student learning and performance.” This is a great accolade from the system for a job well done however the impact on our students’ learning and achievement as a result of this important work is what is worth acknowledging and celebrating.  My personal gratitude goes to all of you who contributed to this outstanding outcome.

Our success comes from professional leadership, well qualified committed teachers, a strong curriculum and a focus on teaching and learning, a stimulating and secure learning environment, and outstanding facilities combining to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment with a shared vision and goals. Students enjoy our safe and culturally diverse school, developing their intellectual, emotional and social potential. We have high expectations and encourage our students to not only excel academically but to participate in the many different sporting, cultural and leadership activities that we provide. Our students are proud to be part of Kalgoorlie Boulder Community High School. Students are hardworking and disciplined, respect others and value the environment that they live in. We promote inclusion and celebrate diversity, welcoming students from all walks of life.

To our students. Your many accomplishments, along with those of your teachers, your fellow students and the parents who support us all are the primary reasons that our school continues to improve. We can also take pride in the wide array of state-of-the-art buildings, new technology and other physical resources, but I believe the key ingredient of a good education is the hard work, accountability, and commitment of the people who make up our community. Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School students are eloquent testimony to the value of those efforts.

Staff will continue to work hard consolidating the work already done and carry on initiating future improvement strategies that will impact on greater student’s engagement resulting in better outcomes for our students.
